Job summary

Hilltop Supply & Hardwood is seeking a highly analytical Business Analytics Intern to support BidFTA auctions and bidding opportunities. The role works with senior management on auction strategy, bid preparation, financial analysis, pricing, and tracking.

Ideal for students in business analytics, finance, supply chain, procurement, or data-driven decision-making. The internship is on-site in Erlanger, KY, with flexible weekdays and approximately 20 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergrad or grad degree in business analytics, finance, accounting, SCM, or related field.
• Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets; strong numerical ability.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain a pipeline of BidFTA opportunities.
• Develop dashboards for opportunity tracking, bid status, pricing, and results.
• Analyze costs, market value, transportation, delivery timelines, margins.
• Assist in developing competitive bidding and pricing strategies.
• Prepare bid docs, pricing schedules and supporting materials.
• Participate in strategy discussions with senior management and cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with sales, finance, accounting, and supply chain personnel.
• Assist with financial modeling and profitability analysis.
• Maintain organized historical records of bids and outcomes.
• Support documentation and compliance for accounting and transactions.
• Identify trends and provide data-driven recommendations.

About The Role
Hilltop Supply & Hardwood is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Analytics Intern to support our participation in BidFTA auctions and related bidding opportunities. This role works closely with senior management on auction strategy, bid preparation, financial analysis, pricing, and opportunity tracking. The intern will gain hands-on exposure to real-world business decisions involving inventory acquisition, margins, logistics, and competitive bidding.

The position is ideal for a student interested in business analytics, finance, supply chain, procurement, or data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain a pipeline of relevant BidFTA auction and bidding opportunities.
• Develop and update internal dashboards for opportunity tracking, bid status, pricing, and results.
• Analyze product costs, market value, transportation expenses, delivery timelines, and expected profit margins.
• Assist management in developing competitive bidding and pricing strategies.
• Prepare bid documentation, pricing schedules, spreadsheets, and supporting materials.
• Participate in strategy discussions with senior management and cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with sales, finance, accounting, and supply chain personnel as needed.
• Assist with financial modeling and profitability analysis for potential purchases.
• Maintain organized historical records of bids, auction results, purchases, and financial outcomes.
• Support documentation and compliance requirements associated with accounting and transaction records.
• Identify trends and provide data-driven recommendations to support auction and purchasing decisions.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to participate effectively in business and strategy discussions.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments.
• Valid state-issued driver's license.
• Ability to work on-site at our Erlanger, Kentucky office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics and visualization tools.
• Familiarity with financial modeling, pricing analysis, or profitability analysis.
• Previous exposure to procurement, auctions, bidding, inventory, or supply chain operations is a plus, but not required.

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate - $20.00 per hour.

Paid Time Off - Up to 20 hours of paid leave/vacation, in addition to applicable company holidays.

Retirement Plan - 401(k) eligibility with a company contribution of up to 2%, subject to applicable plan eligibility requirements.

Growth Opportunity - Eligible for consideration for full-time conversion following the 90-day review period, based on performance and business needs. Full-time conversion may include salary negotiation and up to 80 hours of paid leave/vacation, subject to company policy
