Hydrogen Group in the United States is seeking an experienced Business Analyst II – Power BI & Automation to support transformation, analytics and automation initiatives within a large energy and utilities organization.

You will design Power BI dashboards, build automated workflows with Power Automate, and work with SQL and Excel to turn data into actionable insights, partnering with stakeholders, developers and product owners in an Agile environment.

• Experience as a Business Analyst or similar.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI dashboards and data modelling.
• Practical knowledge of Microsoft Power Automate and Power Apps for automation and app development.
• Advanced Excel skills and SQL proficiency for data analysis.
• Experience identifying opportunities to automate manual processes.
• Ability to gather, analyse and document functional and technical requirements.
• Understanding of APIs and data integrations in enterprise systems.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst II – Power BI & Automation to support business transformation, data analytics and process automation initiatives within a leading energy and utilities organisation.

This position is ideal for a technically proficient Business Analyst who combines strong business analysis capabilities with hands‑on expertise in Microsoft Power Platform, SQL, data integration and workflow automation.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, developers and product owners to identify opportunities for operational improvement, develop automated solutions and deliver actionable insights through interactive reporting and dashboards.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Process Improvement

• Analyse existing business processes, workflows and systems to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation.
• Conduct current-state assessments and define future-state processes and technical solutions.
• Gather, document and translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications.
• Develop process maps, user stories, acceptance criteria and functional requirements.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure proposed solutions align with operational objectives.

Data Analytics & Business Intelligence

• Design, develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards, reports and data visualisations.
• Use SQL and advanced Excel to analyse, manipulate and interpret complex datasets.
• Translate business data into actionable insights that support operational and strategic decision‑making.
• Support data integration across enterprise applications, databases and external systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, accessibility and efficiency.

Workflow Automation & Technical Solutions

• Develop and support automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate and Power Apps.
• Identify repetitive manual activities and recommend scalable automation solutions.
• Work with APIs, system integrations and enterprise applications to streamline data exchange.
• Apply AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT and Claude where appropriate to improve business productivity.
• Partner with technical teams to develop, test and deploy automation and reporting solutions.

Project Delivery & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Support projects throughout the lifecycle, from discovery and requirements gathering through user acceptance testing (UAT) and production deployment.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners and cross‑functional stakeholders in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Use Jira and Confluence to manage requirements, document processes and track project progress.
• Coordinate testing activities, validate solutions against business requirements and support issue resolution.
• Communicate technical concepts, project updates and recommendations clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience working as a Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Power BI, including dashboard development, data modelling and reporting.
• Practical knowledge of Microsoft Power Automate and Power Apps for workflow automation and application development.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in SQL for data analysis and reporting.
• Experience identifying opportunities to automate manual business processes.
• Ability to gather, analyse and document functional and technical business requirements.
• Understanding of APIs, data integrations and enterprise systems.
• Experience developing user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows and functional specifications.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence and Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.
• Experience supporting UAT, implementation and production deployments.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Additional Skills of Interest

• Experience using Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or similar AI productivity tools.
• Experience integrating multiple data sources into reporting or automation solutions.
• Knowledge of business process optimisation and digital transformation initiatives.
• Experience working in complex enterprise environments.
• Previous exposure to the energy, utilities, renewable energy or infrastructure sectors.
