Job summary

Insight Global in Houston, TX seeks a Business Analyst II to support a large utility project focused on smart meter installation. You'll collect and analyze data from work orders and field operations to improve efficiency, standardize processes, and drive data-driven decisions.

As the project matures, you will extend analysis to real-time meter data (pressure, temperature, leaks) to identify anomalies and determine root causes, partnering with IT and operations to enable proactive insights.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar.
• Experience in SQL and Power BI.
• Experience organizing and modeling data to support insights.
• Experience supporting large IT deployment projects.
• Familiarity with Oracle and utility industry.

Responsibilities

Insight Global is seeking a Business Analyst II to join a large utility company in Houston, TX, supporting a long-term (6–10 year) smart meter installation initiative. These analysts will play a key role in improving operational efficiency by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data from active work orders and field operations, with a focus on installation, repair, and maintenance processes. They will be responsible for developing insights and reporting around key performance metrics across the gas operations team, identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities to streamline workflows and standardize processes. As the project matures, the role will evolve into analyzing real-time smart meter data—including pressure, temperature, and leak indicators—to identify anomalies and determine whether issues stem from network systems or physical meter failures, ultimately supporting more proactive, data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Skills and Requirements

• 2-4 years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar
• Experience in SQL
• Experience organizing and building models in Power BI
• Experience putting together business data and creating process solutions based on the data
