Apnimed is a rapidly growing pharmaceutical company working to transform the treatment of sleep apnea based on a simple idea – patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) could benefit from treatment with a safe and effective oral medication dosed once daily at bedtime. Our lead development program, AD109, targets the neurologic control of upper airway muscles to maintain an open airway during sleep. Based in Cambridge, Mass., Apnimed is committed to innovation, as well as state-of-the-art advancements in sleep medicine, which is leading to the development of a portfolio of novel pharmacologic therapies for sleep apnea and related disorders. Of note, the Boston Business Journal has also voted Apnimed as one of the Best Places to Work in 2024 and 2025!
Summary:
The Business Analyst — Commercial reports to the Director, Business Applications & Delivery and is responsible for turning what Apnimed’s commercial organization needs into requirements a build team can act on — sitting with the business owner, decomposing the existing process and writing the requirement before any system change is proposed. The successful candidate will also play a key role in the commercial system go-lives of Q4 2026 and the first half of 2027 and in defining the AI use cases that will make commercial processes faster, in advance of the AD109 launch (PDUFA 28 February 2027; first commercial sale planned for 3 May 2027). This is an exciting opportunity to shape the systems a first-time launch runs on, at the center of a major paradigm shift in the treatment of sleep apnea from medical devices and surgery to a first-in-class pharmaceutical treatment.
Key Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Elicit and document requirements for commercial systems — Veeva CRM, Veeva Align, PromoMats, incentive compensation, market access and field reporting, and the commercial data feeds that supply them — starting from the business process rather than the tool.
- Translate requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria and functional specifications, and maintain the traceability that validated and SOX-relevant systems require.
- Design and run user acceptance testing with commercial business owners: test scripts, execution, defect triage and sign-off.
- Support cutover and hypercare for commercial releases, including data validation and issue triage, across a launch portfolio in which most commercialization capabilities go live between now and launch.
- Define the field force requirement: the CRM, expense, device and onboarding needs of an Apnimed-employed field force of roughly 240 people starting in a two-week window in March 2027, working with Commercial Operations, HR and IT Operations.
- Lead AI use-case definition with commercial business owners — identify the process, the data it depends on and the controls it needs, document the use case and support the pilot — as the analyst capacity behind Apnimed’s AI acceleration program.
- Work alongside the analysts of Apnimed’s commercialization partner and software vendors so that Apnimed writes and owns its own requirements rather than inheriting them.
- Keep process maps and the commercial entries in Apnimed’s capability register current as systems go live and processes change.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, life science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years as a business analyst, with at least 3 years in a pharmaceutical or biotech commercial setting.
- Has elicited and documented requirements in a pharmaceutical commercial organization and can sit with a business owner and decompose a process without being handed a framework. This is a requirement, not a preference.
Skills:
- Veeva CRM or Veeva Align implementation or administration experience; PromoMats a plus.
- Working knowledge of commercial pharmaceutical data — HCP, payer, specialty distribution and syndicated prescription data.
- User acceptance testing design and execution, including test scripting and defect triage.
- Process mapping, gap analysis and user-story writing with clear acceptance criteria.
- GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 documentation exposure, or requirements work on SOX-relevant systems.
- Launch experience at a commercial-stage pharmaceutical company, or experience defining AI or automation use cases with a business function, is a plus.
- Ability to manage simultaneous priorities and changing deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams); experience with Adobe Acrobat Professional.
