Position Overview

The Value Outcomes Liaison (VOL) is a field-based leader within Medical Affairs responsible for advancing Apnimed’s Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) and Real-World Evidence (RWE) strategy through impactful engagement with payer decision-makers. This role serves as a critical bridge between clinical evidence, value demonstration, and market access, translating complex data into meaningful insights that support patient access and inform strategic decision-making.

Key Job Duties include, but are not limited to
  • Identify, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with payer decision-makers by understanding payer needs and priorities, developing and executing a territory strategic plan and customizing the engagement strategy to address their unique needs
  • Utilize and effectively present clinical, humanistic and economic evidence as well as the value proposition of our products in a clear and compelling manner to the payer audience
  • Develop and implement the field HEOR/RWE strategy in collaboration with internal and other field-based Medical and Commercial (Market Access, Medical Science Liaisons [MSLs], Sales) partners to provide exceptional customer experience
  • Serve as a trusted resource, sharing expertise with customers
  • Collaborate with payer decision-makers within a designated geographic “healthcare ecosystem” to understand and address their unique informational needs and challenges
  • Explore opportunities for collaboration on value-based care and research initiatives to facilitate mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Gather and communicate field payer insights, evidence gaps, horizon scanning of health care environmental trends to drive actionable recommendations and inform medical and commercial strategy
  • Partner with field Market Access Account team as well as other field-based teams, including MSLs and Sales to ensure alignment, coordination and consistency in messaging in a compliant manner
US Healthcare System and Payer Expertise
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for payer decision-makers and internal cross-functional teams on relevant disease states, value-based assessments, healthcare and payer policies, and other payer oriented emerging topics
  • Stay abreast of emerging science, environmental market issues, pricing and regulatory actions relevant to regional and national payer decision-makers
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on payer and value-based healthcare concepts
Operational Excellence
  • Support strategic planning and tactical execution of HEOR/RWE, Medical Affairs and Commercial plans
  • Ensure Field Medical Affairs team adherence to company policies, regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements in all aspects of payer and HCP interactions and scientific exchange
  • Adhere to all Apnimed compliance guidance, policies and procedures, the PhRMA Code, HIPAA and all relevant FDA guidance
Education
  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, MPH, MS)
Work-related Skills & Experience
  • At least 7 years of experience in a scientific or health-related field-based customer facing role in industry; payer experience preferred. Your experience will determine the level of your position/role.
  • Deep understanding of the US healthcare system and US value-based decision makers in private and public payers, integrated delivery network (IDNs) and other payer-related customers at the regional and national level
  • Demonstrated expertise in HEOR, real-world evidence (RWE) and value assessment, including experience with AMCP Dossiers, FDAMA 114, budget impact and economic models
  • Knowledgeable with experience in the application of HEOR/RWE research and data analytics to effectively communicate study findings on a range of clinical and HEOR topics
  • High level of scientific excellence, including strong communication skills in translating and presenting complex scientific information in a clear and compelling manner
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a high level of emotional intelligence and the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders
  • High level of business acumen, including broad knowledge of the healthcare environment, understanding of biopharmaceutical industry, strong skills in developing, managing, and executing strategic plans
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional internal teams (e.g., Market Access, Clinical, Medical Affairs, Commercial) to foster a highly collaborative team environment
  • Keen ability to quickly and consistently build and maintain high levels of trust with internal and external stakeholders
  • Highly resourceful, self-motivated and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to travel up to 50-70%, including overnight stays as needed to cover the assigned geography

The salary range for this position is $180,000–$260,000. This position may be filled at different levels based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. Final compensation will be determined based on multiple factors and may fall outside of the posted range.
