The main function of a business operations specialist is to maintain vendor relationships, acting as a business analyst for non-IT projects or filling organizational roles above an administrative level, but below a management level. Other responsibilities may include maintaining all project management processes, including project goals, deadlines, metrics and budget. The business operations specialist usually reports to a project manager or director.
A typical day in this role involves partnering with Sales, Operations, and Business Analytics teams to process and validate data changes that support critical sales planning activities. You'll spend time reviewing datasets, reconciling discrepancies, troubleshooting issues and escalations, and ensuring the accuracy of account, territory, quota, or organizational data within internal systems. In addition, you'll collaborate with stakeholders across global regions, support reporting and analysis requests using tools like Excel and Power BI, and contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and data quality. The role combines analytical problem-solving, operational execution, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate for this role would have a strong background in business analytics, sales operations, data management, or a related operational support function, with 5-10 years of experience working with large datasets and cross-functional stakeholders. They should be highly proficient in Excel and comfortable using analytical tools such as Power BI, SQL, and reporting platforms to validate data, identify trends, and solve business problems.
