Position Overview
The Business Analyst I supports systems, applications, and reporting that are essential to core business operations. This role works closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, end users, and technology teams to identify business needs, improve processes, document requirements, and support effective system solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate process improvement initiatives, new product implementations, and system upgrades.
- Partner with subject matter experts and business decision-makers to gather, analyze, and document business and operational requirements.
- Facilitate business workgroups focused on improving processes, operations, workflows, and information flow.
- Identify business problems, analyze root causes, and help develop solutions that meet user and business requirements.
- Analyze user requirements, procedures, and existing processes to identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and improved efficiency.
- Serve as a liaison between business owners, end users, and information systems/technology teams to ensure solutions align with business needs.
- Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to department applications, systems, and processes.
- Ensure business requirements are clearly documented, traceable, and testable throughout the solution lifecycle.
- Apply organizational best practices to support the development and enhancement of business applications.
- Gather information from internal and external sources and translate findings into reports, documentation, and visual presentations for business stakeholders.
- Support business and quality testing activities and use findings to make informed business conclusions and recommendations.
Qualifications & Key Success Factors
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Information Management, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Experience in healthcare, managed care operations, prescription benefit management (PBM), or business process analysis preferred.
- Experience with business analysis, quality testing, or process improvement, with the ability to evaluate results and draw sound business conclusions.
- Medical billing and claims denials experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, document, and help implement efficient business solutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new information systems, applications, and software.
- Strong analytical, data interpretation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong business and technical writing abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team while managing multiple projects and priorities independently.
