BKM Capital Partners is a growing firm looking for driven, entrepreneurial professionals who are passionate about technology, data, and solving complex business problems. Located in our Newport Beach, California office, the Business Analyst will play an integral role in advancing the firm’s use of technology, data, automation, and analytics across the organization.

This position will serve as a critical bridge between BKM’s business teams and technology resources, partnering with departments across the organization to understand how they operate, identify challenges and opportunities, and translate business needs into practical technology and data solutions. The Business Analyst will develop a deep understanding of business processes and use that knowledge to help teams automate workflows, improve reporting, leverage data more effectively, and operate more efficiently. The ideal candidate will combine strong business acumen with a highly technical foundation in data architecture, data warehousing, analytics, business intelligence, and automation. This individual should be equally comfortable meeting with business leaders to understand an operational challenge, translating that challenge into technical requirements, working within Snowflake and related data infrastructure, and developing analytical or visualization solutions that turn complex data into actionable business insights.

This role is 100% in-office due to the collaborative nature.

Essential Functions

Business Partnership & Technology Enablement

• Serve as a key liaison between BKM’s business teams and technology resources, translating business objectives, challenges, and opportunities into clear technical and data requirements.
• Partner with departments across the organization, including Finance & Accounting, Acquisitions & Dispositions, Asset Management, Portfolio Management, Property Management, and Operations, to understand existing processes, systems, reporting requirements, and data needs.
• Develop a deep understanding of how individual departments operate, including key workflows, information requirements, dependencies, and pain points.
• Proactively identify opportunities to leverage technology, data, automation, and artificial intelligence to improve efficiency, scalability, controls, and decision-making.
• Lead requirements gathering and process discovery sessions with business users, documenting current-state workflows and developing improved future-state processes.
• Translate technical concepts into practical business language while effectively communicating business requirements to technical teams, software vendors, consultants, and other technology partners.
• Serve as an internal resource to help business teams evaluate how existing and emerging technologies can improve the way they operate.

Data Architecture & Data Warehousing

• Serve as a key internal resource supporting the firm’s centralized data warehouse and broader data architecture, with significant hands-on involvement in Snowflake.
• Partner with external specialists to integrate data from core business systems into a centralized, scalable data environment.
• Understand and work with data structures, relationships, transformations, and dependencies across multiple source systems.
• Translate business reporting and analytical requirements into scalable data models, datasets, and technical specifications.
• Develop, query, validate, and analyze datasets within Snowflake and related data environments.
• Utilize SQL and other data tools to extract, manipulate, reconcile, and analyze large and complex datasets.
• Support the development and maintenance of data pipelines and transformation processes used to feed reporting, analytics, and automation solutions.
• Monitor data quality, completeness, consistency, and reliability across source systems, the data warehouse, and downstream reporting applications.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive data dictionary with support from internal resources.
• Troubleshoot data issues by tracing information from source systems through integrations and transformations into the data warehouse and ultimately into dashboards and reporting.

Business Intelligence, Analytics & Visualization

• Design and develop dashboards, reporting tools, and analytical solutions that translate complex data into clear and actionable business insights.
• Utilize Tableau and other business intelligence and visualization tools to develop intuitive, scalable, and decision-useful reporting.
• Partner with business leaders to identify and define key performance indicators, reporting requirements, and analytical frameworks appropriate for their respective functions.
• Integrate information across multiple systems and datasets to create consolidated views of business and operational performance.
• Analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, exceptions, risks, opportunities, and areas requiring management attention.
• Help migrate recurring reporting away from manually maintained spreadsheets and disconnected data sources toward automated, centralized, and governed reporting solutions.
• Continuously evaluate and enhance dashboards and analytical tools based on evolving business requirements and user feedback.
• Help ensure reporting solutions provide users with timely, accurate, consistent, and easily accessible information.

Automation, AI & Process Improvement

• Identify repetitive, manual, or inefficient processes across the organization and develop technology-enabled solutions to improve how work is performed.
• Evaluate and implement workflow automation, process automation, artificial intelligence, and other technologies to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy and scalability.
• Map existing business processes, identify bottlenecks and control gaps, and develop improved future-state workflows.
• Develop business cases for automation and technology initiatives by evaluating expected efficiency gains, improved controls, scalability, data quality, and overall business value.
• Partner with business users through solution design, development, testing, implementation, training, and adoption.
• Evaluate opportunities to incorporate artificial intelligence into existing workflows, reporting processes, information retrieval, and decision support.
• Develop documentation for automated processes, data workflows, system integrations, and business requirements.
• Monitor implemented solutions and proactively identify opportunities for continued optimization and improvement.

Strategic Initiatives & Continuous Improvement

• Partner with functional and senior leaders to identify opportunities to use technology and data to improve business performance and support the continued growth of the organization.
• Support the development and execution of the firm’s roadmap for data, analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, and technology-enabled business improvement.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by proactively identifying opportunities to simplify processes, improve information flow, automate manual work, and increase the use of data in decision-making.
• Help increase technology and data fluency across the organization through training, documentation, and ongoing partnership with business users.
• Develop repeatable processes, documentation, and standards that allow successful technology and automation initiatives to scale across departments.
• Help build the processes, systems, data infrastructure, and analytical capabilities necessary to support the continued growth and institutionalization of BKM’s platform.

The Qualifiers

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline strongly preferred.
• MBA, Master’s degree, or other advanced business or technical degree preferred.
• 4–7+ years of experience in business analysis, technology consulting, data analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, digital transformation, or a related role combining business and technology responsibilities.
• Data platform architecture: ingestion patterns, warehouse design, environment strategy, orchestration, access governance, and reliability standards.
• Snowflake platform operations: roles, permissions, service accounts, connector ownership, performance and governance strongly preferred.
• Advanced SQL skills and demonstrated experience working directly with large and complex datasets.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, APIs, and system integrations.
• Advanced experience with business intelligence and data visualization platforms required; Tableau experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with workflow automation, process automation, low-code/no-code technologies, or related automation tools strongly preferred.
• Experience leveraging artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to automate workflows, analyze information, or improve business processes is a plus.
• Familiarity with Python or other programming and scripting languages is a plus.
• Strong business acumen and demonstrated ability to quickly understand complex business processes, identify underlying needs, and translate them into practical technical solutions.
• Demonstrated experience gathering business requirements and successfully working between business users and technical resources.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to move comfortably between detailed technical issues and broader business objectives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical professionals, business users, and senior leadership.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
