Job summary

Objectway is seeking a Business Analyst to join a product team replacing a legacy model in financial planning. You will translate complex cash flow, tax, and investment logic into clear requirements for engineering teams.

Ideal candidates will analyze an Excel-based model, break down calculations into modular components, and work with developers and QA to deliver testable specifications in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Exposure to financial planning concepts (cash flow, investments, tax, retirement).
• Ability to quickly build domain understanding.
• Strong analytical thinking; break down complex systems.
• Translate numerical or financial logic into structured requirements.
• Experience with data models, workflows, or system design.

About the Role

We are looking for a Business Analyst to join a product team working on replacing a legacy model with a more structured and scalable system in the field of financial planning. This role focuses on translating complex financial planning logic (cash flow, tax, investments, retirement) into clear, structured requirements for engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Product Manager to translate financial planning concepts into developer-ready requirements.
• Analyze existing Excel-based working model and extract underlying logic and rules.
• Break down interconnected calculations (e.g. tax, cash flow, investment growth) into modular components and flows.
• Document data relationships, calculation logic, and system behavior (e.g. data flows, entity relationships, calculation dependencies).
• Support the definition of how changes in one part of the system impact others (e.g. how cash flow impacts tax, or savings impacts net worth projections).
• Work closely with developers and QA to ensure requirements are clear and testable.
• Validate outputs to ensure alignment with expected financial outcomes.
• Apply consistent patterns across features to support a scalable system.
• Contribute to UX/UI design discussions with a focus on usability and logical flow.

Requirements

• Exposure to financial planning concepts (cash flow, investments, tax, retirement).
• Ability to quickly build domain understanding.

• Ability to translate numerical or financial logic into structured requirements.
• Experience with data models, workflows, or system design.
• Experienced in working within agile teams, managing user stories, priorities, and iterative feedback cycles.
• Clear communicator across technical and non-technical teams.
• Familiarity with tools like JIRA, Confluence, and diagramming tools.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with financial models or spreadsheet-based systems and translating them into software requirements.
• Exposure to rule-based systems, simulations, or optimization problems.
• Familiarity with multi-jurisdiction financial concepts (e.g. UK, Canada, or EU markets).

• The indicative gross annual salary for this role is between €30000 and €38000. The actual contractual classification and the associated remuneration package will be determined on the basis of various factors, including professional qualifications, level of seniority, skills acquired and educational background.
