Junior Business Analyst - Financial Reporting & 1099 Compliance
Contract: November 2, 2026 - March 1, 2027 (with possibility of extension)
Work Arrangement: 5 days onsite
Location: Downtown Dallas (parking is paid for)
Turn Complex Financial Data into Accurate, Timely Reporting
We are seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Junior Business Analyst to support a large-scale annual 1099 reporting initiative involving more than 70 business units, Finance, Technology, and external reporting partners. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into data, identifying discrepancies, solving problems, and working directly with stakeholders to drive issues through resolution. You'll play a critical role in validating financial reporting data, coordinating corrections, supporting testing, and ensuring accurate, timely 1099 filings. We're looking for someone who takes ownership of the details, not someone who simply documents requirements or tracks issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and validate high-volume financial data collected from 70+ business units for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Analyze spreadsheets and system-generated reports to identify missing information, duplicate records, calculation errors, and reporting discrepancies.
- Perform hands-on Excel data analysis, reconciliation, and validation to support 1099 reporting requirements.
- Investigate data-quality issues, identify root causes, document findings, and coordinate corrections through resolution.
- Work directly with Finance, Technology, business units, and external vendors to clarify data requirements and resolve reporting exceptions.
- Gather and document business requirements, data definitions, reporting rules, process flows, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop and execute test scenarios, validate file outputs, track defects, and retest corrections.
- Coordinate testing and production readiness activities with external filing partners.
- Maintain accurate issue logs, action trackers, testing documentation, and filing-readiness reports.
- Communicate discrepancies, required actions, and deadlines clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Support filing activities, post-filing corrections, and process improvements to strengthen future reporting cycles.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to work 5 days onsite
- 3 years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, finance operations, accounting operations, tax reporting, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience reviewing and reconciling large, complex, or multi-source datasets.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for analyzing, validating, organizing, and reconciling financial or operational data.
- Experience identifying data discrepancies, investigating root causes, tracking errors, and driving corrections through resolution.
- Experience with business requirements gathering, process documentation, testing, and defect management.
- Ability to coordinate directly with multiple business stakeholders to obtain information, clarify discrepancies, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage competing priorities and follow through on outstanding issues in a deadline-driven environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 1099 reporting, tax reporting, Accounts Payable, vendor reporting, or financial compliance.
- Experience supporting year-end financial reporting, reconciliations, or regulatory filing initiatives.
- Advanced Excel capabilities such as PivotTables, XLOOKUP, or Power Query.
- Experience with SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar data analysis tools.
- Experience coordinating data validation, testing, and issue resolution with third-party vendors.
- Familiarity with Oracle Fusion, NetSuite, Workday, or comparable financial systems.
- Experience with SharePoint Online, Smartsheet, or similar collaboration tools.
- Experience supporting data-quality improvements, reporting controls, or process standardization.
