Job summary
AmeriLife is seeking a skilled Business Analyst to join the Agency Operations team. You will partner with leaders to understand operational needs, analyze data trends, and translate insights into practical improvements that enhance customer and agent experiences and support growth.
The role emphasizes business acumen, analytics, and systems knowledge to define requirements, support solution design, and drive measurable efficiency across the organization. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, related field or 5+ years of demonstrated experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Business Analyst
- Experience in one or more industries: Annuities, Health and/or Life Insurance, Retirement or other financial services
- Experience supporting web portals, quoting tools and low code/no code platforms preferred
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving, analytic, communication, writing and presentation skills
- Excellent communications skills - ability to communicate clearly and concisely on a professional level with varying technical audiences
- Proficiency in business and data analysis and reporting tools/methodologies (Excel, Tableau, Power BI)
- Familiarity with project management principles and agile methodologies
- Flexible and patient, able to manage concurrent projects and collaborate cross-functionally
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements
- Lead, mentor and coach team members and business partners on industry, business and system development
- Proactively analyze data and operational trends to identify insights, risks and process improvement opportunities that drive efficiency and business outcomes
- Document business requirements and user stories and acceptance criteria for review and approvals by stakeholders
- Maintain detailed documentation for system processes and user manuals
- Create or improve innovative system design that meets business needs; identify risks and impacts
- Conduct work estimation, prioritization and release management
- Contribute to system configuration and development activities
- Create test conditions, test plans, test data and test cases
- Ensure system functionality meets business requirements
- Assist with training development and user acceptance testing
- Support business process improvement and re-engineering activities
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and data security standards

As such, we're looking for a Business Analyst to help us continue pushing our ambitious roadmap forward. This role will join our Agency Operations team with a strong business focus on operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and continuous process improvement. In this role, the Business Analyst will partner closely with business leaders and stakeholders to understand operational needs, proactively analyze data and trends, and translate insights into meaningful recommendations that improve processes, strengthen controls, enhance customer and agent experiences, and support business growth. This position requires a balance of business acumen, analytical thinking, and systems knowledge to identify opportunities, define requirements, support solution design, and help drive measurable improvements across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements
- Lead, mentor and coach team members and business partners on industry, business and system development subject matter
- Proactively analyze data and operational trends to identify insights, risks, and process improvement opportunities that drive efficiency and business outcomes
- Conduct, coach or assist in scope definition and discovery on functional, conversion, technical and integration changes
- Document business requirements and/or user stories and acceptance criteria for review and approvals by stakeholders
- Maintain detailed documentation for system processes and user manuals
- Create or improve innovative system design that meets business needs; identify business, financial, technical, reporting and operational risks and impacts
- Complete or assist with work estimation, prioritization and release management
- Conduct or contribute to system configuration and development activities
- Create test conditions, test plans, test data, pre-determined results and test cases
- Ensure system functionality meetings business requirements
- Conduct or assist business partners with training development, support user acceptance testing and implementation efforts
- Assist with business process improvement and re-engineering activities, user procedures and training
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and data security standards
- Assist with or conduct project management activities
