Job summary

Original Composites and Fibers is seeking a Bushing Design Engineer to design fiberizing bushings and related hardware for our glass reinforcement plants, applying CAE, CFD, and FEA to optimize the fiberizing process.

You will translate physical understanding into practical designs, develop manufacturing docs, and install and evaluate them in lab or plant environments, with travel up to 35%.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in thermal/fluid sciences.
• Experience in mechanical design, mechanical drawings, and standards.
• 0-5 years’ industrial design/operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design fiberizing bushing and ancillary hardware for glass reinforcement plants.
• Use computational/analytical tools to deliver bushing solutions meeting standards and targets.
• Minimize Pt/Rh alloy usage and develop mechanical drawing packages.
• Maintain standard work documents and qualify new material sources.
• Support design and material innovation projects; perform validation experiments.
• Provide on-site and remote support to plants to troubleshoot operations; mentor staff.
