Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc, located in Huntsville, Alabama, is hiring a 2nd shift Production Operator Busbar. The role requires reading part drawings, precise metrology, and hands-on machining experience to ensure quality products for customers.

Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, measuring with gauges, inspecting machined units, and supporting CNC setups and program proofing under supervision. Overtime may be required to meet production targets.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret part and tool drawings.
• Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators and gauges for verification of dimensional quality.
• Inspect units and tooling after machining for quality compliance.
• Understand five axis machine motion and machine code basics (G/M codes).
• Proof programs and setups with feedback on programming issues.

Responsibilities

• Be able to read and interpret part and tool drawings with the ability to properly understand these drawings as they apply to parts or tooling machined.
• Use micrometers (inside, outside and depth), calipers, dial indicators, scales, and various gauges for verification of dimensional quality work produced.
• Inspect Units and/or Tooling after machining to ensure compliance with all quality requirements.
• Have a good understanding of five axis machine motion, with the ability to interpret the axial tool movement according to machine code.
• Check for proper machine alignment and perform proofing/first article runs.
• Make accurate setups ensuring tombstones, fixtures, and/or table are clean and free of burrs, check tools for wear.
• Obtain knowledge of machine code and use MDI for manual machining operations.
• Proof programs and provide feedback on programming issues while operating equipment.
