Job summary

WMATA's Office of Bus Transportation Training seeks dedicated Training and Safety Instructors to deliver high‑quality instruction and uphold safety standards for Metrobus operators and students.

You will design and conduct classroom and on‑street training, assess learner progress, and mentor staff while using modern training tools to prepare operators to deliver safe, reliable service across the Washington metropolitan area.

Qualifications

• Candidates should have strong communication and teaching skills.
• Ability to learn and apply new information.
• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Assesses training needs and communicates with supervisors to plan trainings.
• Develops and conducts classroom and on‑vehicle training for operators and mechanics.
• Coordinates CDL training and testing, and requalification programs.
• Evaluates trainee progress and posts grades, provides coaching and feedback.
• Instructs on new routes, equipment changes, and fare structures.
