Job summary

International Leadership of Texas is seeking an experienced bus mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain school buses and related systems. The role covers engines, brakes, steering, suspension, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance to keep buses roadworthy.

Responsibilities include using diagnostic tools, servicing air conditioning, troubleshooting electrical components, and assisting district drivers.

Qualifications

  • Pre-employment physical including vision, hearing, drug testing, and MVR check
  • Repair knowledge of air and hydraulic brake systems
  • Must provide own tools (~$15,000)
  • CDL Class B with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) within 90 days and good driving record
  • ASE or TASBT certification preferred in brakes, electrical, driveline, and steering/suspension; diesel/alt fuel knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to diagnose mechanical/electronic problems on engines, transmissions, and ABS brakes across vehicles
  • Service air conditioning systems and troubleshoot electrical components
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems using a multimeter and verify readings
  • Perform drivability tests to ensure safe operation after maintenance/repairs
  • Inspect and repair body damage and paint vehicle bodies
