Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) seeks students to join its Bus Operator training program. Trainees will learn to operate WMATA buses, complete classroom and on-road training, and pass CDL exams.

You will perform pre- and post-operation inspections, follow safety policies, and provide courteous customer service on routes. Applicants must be at least 21, have a license or permit with Passenger Bus endorsement by start, and meet driving record requirements.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Commercial Driver’s License or Learner’s Permit with Passenger Bus endorsement before starting Bus Training.

Responsibilities

• Successfully completes Bus Operator and CDL training program, including classroom study and on-route training.
• Learns pre- and post-operation inspections of assigned vehicles.
• Learns to operate a passenger bus on designated routes and provide stellar customer service.
• Follows all required safety policies and procedures.
• Learns to document accidents and incidents per guidelines.
