Keolis America, Inc. is seeking a full-time Bus Operator for fixed-route service with MWRTA in Framingham, MA. Starting pay is $26.77 per hour, plus sign-on bonuses for CDL holders and non-CDL applicants.

Responsibilities include safe driving, on-time performance, assisting passengers, and delivering excellent customer service. Ideal candidates will be at least 21, hold a MA CDL B (or higher) with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements, have clean DMV history, and pass pre-employment checks.

Qualifications

  • Must be minimum 21 years of age.
  • 5 years verifiable valid driver's license required; MA CDL B or higher with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements preferred.
  • Must be eligible and able to obtain a CDL C with Passenger endorsement.
  • Must have clean driving record – DMV printout required for the last 10 years.
  • Must have stable work history.
  • CPR, AED and First Aid Certification (Provided by the Company)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure customers feel welcome and provide on-time service.
  • Communicate effectively with passengers, especially during service disruptions.
  • Assist passengers as needed and provide schedule guidance.
  • Collect fare media and report any fare evasion or fraud.
  • Maintain safety by practicing defensive driving and ensuring on-road compliance.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and report defects.
  • Adhere to assigned routes, depart on-time, and handle unexpected situations with composure.

Bus Operator - Fixed Route - MWRTA

Starting Rate: $26.77/Hour
$10,000 Sign-on Bonus for holders of current CDL A and B with both Passenger and Air Brake endorsements (Rules Apply)
$2,500 Sign-on Bonus for non-CDL licensed operators (Rules Apply)

Our full time Fixed Route Bus Operators at MWRTA serve as true ambassadors, being the daily face representing Keolis, ensuring our riders are being delivered safely and courteously, and providing on-time service.

Knowledge and Experience
  • Must be minimum 21 years of age
  • 5 years verifiable valid Drivers license required; valid Massachusetts CDL B or higher with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements preferred

Key Accountabilities
Customer Service
  • Ensure customers feel welcome
  • Effectively communicate with passengers especially in the event of service disruptions
  • Provide passengers with assistance as needed
  • Accommodate passengers with information such as schedule, guidance, ect.
Safety
  • Practice defensive driving, anticipating potential hazards and reacting appropriately to avoid accidents
  • Ensure safe on-road operations while maintaining on-time performance
  • Familiarity with assigned routing and detours to include inclement weather
  • Awareness of ADA Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance
  • Proper operation of all wheelchair lifts to include manual operation, for each bus model
  • Report immediately to dispatch any vehicular accident or passenger incident and follow the incident and accident reporting procedures
  • Assist and help passengers with mobility devices, such as wheelchairs or walkers
  • Assisting passengers with boarding and properly securing wheelchairs
Operations
  • Collect the prescribed fare media and notify dispatch of any type of fare evasion or fraud
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections and enter all defects on to the DVIR forms
  • Follow exact deadhead routing and their assigned revenue service routes
  • Depart the start of each route exactly on-time and never operate ahead of schedule
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Long periods (potentially exceeding 8 hours per day) of walking, standing, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, twisting, squatting, handling materials, repetitive hand-wrist motions, and traversing uneven surfaces;
  • Exposure to both extreme heat and cold;
  • Exposure to loud noises, fumes, and airborne particles;

  • Operators/Drivers may work inside or outside vehicles and may operate vehicles for over 8 hours per day.
  • Operations Supervisors and Managers may split their work between an office setting looking at a computer screen/electronic device and active transit field locations driving in a vehicle.
  • Maintenance Employees may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals in a ventilated maintenance shop and may work with personal computers, laptops, electronic hand-held devices, complex electrical schematics, diagnostic software and testing devices, and other heavy machinery.
  • Office Staff may work indoors in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities, including offices and cubicle spaces equipped with a telephone and computer and may entail typing or looking at a computer screen.
