Job summary

Putnam County Schools in West Virginia is seeking a dedicated Bus Operator (S79) to safely operate school buses and transportation vehicles. The role requires a CDL Class B with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid driving record.

The position includes training, health benefits, and a 200‑day length with a daily AM/PM schedule. Starting immediately, the operator will follow the district's transportation handbook and comply with all safety and training

Qualifications

• Commercial Driver’s License, Class B, Passenger and Airbrake Endorsements.
• Passes the required physical examination.
• Three years of licensed driving experience.
• Passes DMV driving record check.
• Passes the Drug/Alcohol screening.
• Completes 40 hours of classroom and 20 hours behind‑the‑wheel training.
• Holds First Aid/CPR and WV School Bus Operator Certificates.

Job Description: The School Bus Operator is responsible for operating school buses and other school transportation vehicles as provided by the West Virginia Board of Education.

Effective Employment Date: September 9, 2026

Daily Schedule: Pre-Trip – 15 Minutes prior to pullout time (AM only)

Currently - Pull Out Time (AM) – 6:30 am - 8:15 am

Pull Out Time (PM) –2:15 pm - 4:35 pm

Post-Trip – 15 Minutes
