Job summary

Summers County Board of Education is seeking qualified individuals to operate a school bus on established routes. The role requires daily service when school is in session, with safe pickup and drop-off at designated stops and strict adherence to WV School Transportation regulations.

Applicants must be physically fit, have a clean driving record, be at least 21, and complete a background check and drug test as per district policy. 200-day term; state-scale compensation and bus-run postings.

Qualifications

• Physically fit according to WV School Transportation regulations.
• Satisfactory driving record with WV Dept. of Safety, including qualifications in WV School Transportation regulations.
• Must be 21 years of age
• High School Graduate or GED.
• Criminal Background Check conducted pursuant to Summers County Board of Education Policy IV-G-4
• Drug Test conducted pursuant to Summers County Board of Education Policy IV-H-1

Responsibilities

• The bus operator shall run his/her school bus over his/her established route or routes every day that school is in session, according to his/her time schedule, picking up and discharging students at their designated stops.
• Shall comply with "West Virginia School Transportation Regulations"
• Shall comply with the Summers County Transportation Policy.
• Report to schools served and transportation office by phone, as possible, when bus won't be making its run.
• The bus operators shall work cooperatively with principals and teachers of schools they serve.
• The bus operators shall report to the proper authority all accidents, break downs, discipline problems and any other problems, as soon as possible.
• Reports incidents and work cooperatively with the school principal and assistant principal.
• Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by the transportation director and the superintendent.
• This job description remains in effect until revised or rewritten by the superintendent

RESPONSIBLE TO:

Transportation Director, Superintendent or other designated school official

All passengers who ride his/her school bus
