Job summary

PathStone is seeking staff to ensure safe transportation of children and to assist the cook with meal preparation and service for children and staff. Responsibilities include completing USDA paperwork, meal distribution, and kitchen duties, with coverage in the center when needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, potential experience in child care, and a willingness to travel to rural areas. Bilingual ability is preferred, and health clearances are required.

Qualifications

• Bilingual preferred (English and language of majority of children).
• Must have current physical exam, Mantoux TB screening and clearances.

• Complete required reports and paperwork for USDA program.
• Assist in distribution of center meals in accordance with USDA requirements.
• Perform kitchen duties including meal prep and clean-up.
• In absence of Center Cook, manage kitchen operations.

Job description

Ensure the safe transportation of the children. Assist the cook in preparing food, serving meals and cleaning-up after food service for the children/staff of the program.

Requirements (Education, Experience, Certification, Knowledge, Skill):

High school/GED diploma. Preferred: at least one year of documented, relevant experience in child care and/or enrollment in early childhood education courses

Parents of children enrolled in the MHS program who do not have a high school diploma and are actively working on a GED will be considered meeting the “knowledge” requirement of this position.

Bilingual preferred (English/language of majority of children in classroom).

Must have current physical exam, mantoux tuberculosis screening and clearances.

Position Responsibilities:

Complete required reports and paperwork as needed for the USDA program.

Assist in the distribution of center meals in accordance with USDA requirements.

Perform kitchen duties including preparing meals and clean-up.

In absence of Center Cook, assumes responsibility of the kitchen operations.

Maintain all Health and safety practices regarding food preparation and delivery.

Assist children with seat belts and ensure that seat belts are fastened at all times when vehicle is in motion.

Manage bus environment (including rider communication) during transport, ensuring that bus rules are followed and that all children are seated with arms, legs, and heads inside windows.

Assist bus driver to secure a safe loading and unloading zone at all times.

Provide and maintain a safe environment in the bus to prevent injuries to children and staff.

Participate in monthly emergency bus evacuation drills.

Direct children on and off the bus, at the center and at the children’s home or drop off location, releasing child to authorized adult.

Ensure the safe and proper transportation of medication and breast milk according top PathStone procedure established in Health Services Manual.

Wear seat belts at all times except in emergency situations.

Notify supervisor immediately of any accidents/incidents relating to children, parents, or staff.

Attend all mandated trainings.

Must develop an understanding of local, state, federal, and agency policies.

Implement School Readiness Plan.

Adhere to established Work Plan and update as necessary or directed by Supervisor.

Adhere to PathStone’s Confidentiality Policy.

Adhere to PathStone’s Child Abuse and Neglect Policy.

Adhere to PathStone’s Positive Discipline Policy.

Assist in the physical maintenance and care of center facility such as sweeping, mopping, sanitizing and garbage disposal.

Perform other job related duties as required or assigned.

Working Conditions/Environment:

Must be able to work split shift and flexible hours. Must be able to travel into rural areas.

Must be able to work with cleaning products such as bleach and disinfectants.

Moderate exposure to disease agents.

Position must frequently bend and lift up to 60 pounds

Transportation Requirement:

Position does not require automobile, driver’s license and insurance.
