Job summary

Clifton Independent School District is seeking a Bus Mechanic to maintain and service all district buses and vehicles. The role requires a CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements or the ability to obtain one, plus prior mechanic experience. Work schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

with after-hours as needed. This is a 226-day contract position reporting to the Transportation Director. Responsibilities include oil changes, fluid checks, inventory management, and timely service repairs.

Qualifications

• Experience as a mechanic is required.
• CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with passenger and school bus endorsements or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain all district buses and vehicles, including checking fluid levels, oil, belts, hoses, and batteries; keep maintenance records.
• Answer after-hours inquiries from bus drivers and respond to roadside assistance.
• Order and maintain inventory of parts, filters, oils, and supplies.
• Perform service repairs promptly and conduct annual vehicle inspections.
• Keep vehicles clean, fueled, and logs up to date; coordinate repairs and replacements as needed.
• Fill in for Transportation Director when required and manage vehicle assignments in the district system.
