Job summary

Berryville Public School District is seeking a dedicated Bus Mechanic to maintain diesel and gas engine district vehicles and ensure safe, reliable student transportation. A CDL with bus endorsement, or the ability to obtain one within 8 weeks, is required, along with passing the district bus mechanic quiz.

The position is twelve months (240 days) and emphasizes safe operation of district equipment, teamwork, and professional conduct with staff and students.

Qualifications

• Diesel or gasoline engine mechanic experience is required.
• Must pass the district's general knowledge bus mechanic quiz.
• CDL with bus endorsement is required upon application or must be earned within 8 weeks of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operates all District equipment in a safe manner.
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment and proper storage for combustibles.
• Work overtime as required by supervisor or district administration.
• Attend meetings as requested by supervisors or district administration.
• Be respectful and courteous to parents, students and staff.
• Act as a team player and perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain appropriate dress and grooming.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Bus Mechanic

F.L.S.A. Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diesel/Gas engine mechanic experience required.
• Must pass general knowledge bus mechanic quiz administered by the school district.
• Must have CDL with bus endorsement upon application or earn CDL with bus endorsement within 8 weeks of employment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve-month (240 days).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Operates all District equipment in a safe manner.

• Maintains safe and clean work environment, including acceptable storage methods for combustibles.

Additional Responsibilities:

Work overtime as required by supervisor or district administration.

Attends meetings as requested by supervisors or district administration.

Respectful and courteous to parents, students and staff.

Functions as a team player, works on other duties as assigned.

Dress and grooming should be appropriate.
