Job summary

First Student in New York is hiring immediately for a Mechanic / Maintenance Technician II to keep our school buses safely on the road. You’ll perform routine and advanced repairs, handle emergency service calls, and mentor entry-level technicians.

We offer $21.00 per hour, ASE incentive, comprehensive benefits, PTO, tool allowances, and ongoing training. A valid driver’s license and willingness to obtain a CDL are required; CDL training will be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• Vocational or technical training in vehicle repair (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on buses, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
• Electrical components, fluids systems, filters, belts, batteries, and hoses.
• Conduct preventive maintenance (PMs), DOT inspections, and diagnostic troubleshooting.
• Maintain detailed service records, complete work orders, and track parts usage.
• Support emergency roadside service calls when needed.
• Mentor entry-level technicians.
