Description

The Transportation and Parking unit at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Bus Driver II position.

About the Opportunity:

This position provides transportation services to the University community and visitors. It involves developing and designing routes to meet transportation needs and transporting mobility-impaired users.

Pay Grade: PG17

Work hours: Varies

What you'll do:
  • Arrange route schedules to meet daily demands; drive assigned buses safely.
  • Coordinate route schedules and trips for tours and charters.
  • Inspect buses, maintain cleanliness, and ensure safety.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent; training in public relations and hazardous materials preferred.
  • At least one year of driving experience, preferably in congested or residential areas.

Preferred Experience includes dealing with the public, operating disability equipment, bus maintenance, planning road trips, and record keeping. All qualifications must be met by employment start date.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to diffuse tense situations, communicate effectively, plan routes, and choose safe routes in various conditions.
Physical Demands & Coordination:
  • Visual and mental concentration, physical coordination for driving, lifting up to 50 pounds, cleaning, and long periods of sitting.
Requirements:
  • CDL License, drug test, DOT check, CPR/First Aid (preferred), and certification in disability services (preferred).
