Job summary

St Johns Lutheran Ministries Inc in Billings, MT seeks a Bus Driver II responsible for safely transporting residents and staff to designated sites and maintaining a safe, clean vehicle. You will work under the Wellness & Life Enrichment department and collaborate with the Community Engagement Director to support daily program activities and outings.

A valid Montana driver's license is required; CDL endorsement preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a valid MT Driver's License; CDL endorsement preferred.
• Must have a good driving record and be willing to be trained on transfers and oxygen operation.

POSITION TITLE: Bus Driver II

RESPONSIBLE TO: Community Engagement Director

EXPOSURE LEVEL: Level II

EXEMPTION STATUS: Nonexempt

SUMMARY

This position provides safe transportation of residents and staff members to designated sites.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Transportation

• Safely transports residents and staff members to designated sites
• Keeps bus/van in safe working condition
• Performs other duties as assigned by Life Enrichment Coordinator

Communication

• Communicates effectively with residents, coworkers and guests
• Has daily contact with residents and staff
• Administers professional conduct with contacts at various sites where residents are transported
• Establishes a positive rapport with all staff members, residents and outside contacts
• Promotes and delivers high quality service to the residents, staff members of the facility
• Understands, supports and adheres to the mission of St. John’s Lutheran Ministries

Safety

• Obeys safety rules of St. John’s United
• Identifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards
• Attends mandatory safety inservices

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements

• Knowledge and skills acquired through completion of high school or GED. Must possess a valid MT Drivers License, CDL endorsement preferred.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required

• Must possess a good driving record
• Willingness and ability to be trained on transfers, oxygen operation and maintenance, or take the SJU CNA course.
• Must be knowledgeable of the Billings community or have ability to use navigation technology such as Google maps.
• Able to use a mobile phone, computer, and software such as Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to communicate and interact effectively in a professional manner
• Ability to function independently in performing assigned duties
• Must be able to respond to management and staff level employees needs in a timely and professional manner
• Performs job tasks following established procedures and reports problems or concerns to supervisor

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Requires the ability to stand, bend, lift, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally
