Job description

Role Mission:

The Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students over scheduled routes to and from various school sites and ensuring the safety of all passengers riding the school bus. Employees in this role operate under general supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. The role includes ensuring the safety of all passengers, including special education students, while operating the bus and maintaining the bus in a safe operating condition.

Compensation:

• Hourly rate between $19.53 (0 years of experience) and $24.42
• Performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment

Qualifications:

• GED or High School Diploma
• Experience with large passenger vehicles or equivalent experience and training; ability to manage student behavior
• Valid CDL with class P and S endorsements
• Completed bus driver safety training
• Over 21 years old
• Pass drug and alcohol tests and DOT physical

Responsibilities:

• Safely operate the school bus according to schedule and transport students to various locations
• Maintain order and discipline onboard, resolve disputes, report severe disciplinary issues
• Conduct daily safety and operational inspections of the vehicle
• Manage loading/unloading, ensure safety belt use, and release students to authorized persons
• Maintain records on mileage, routing, maintenance, and schedules
• Notify relevant personnel of delays or issues
• Ensure credentials are current and compliant with DOT and IDEA policies
• Communicate effectively with management and accept feedback for continuous improvement
• Prioritize tasks, adapt to changing circumstances, and work extended hours as needed
