Stony Brook University is seeking a dedicated Bus Driver for both full-time and part-time positions. Job Description - Bus Driver, Full-Time & Part-Time (2501913)
Per Civil Service Standards and Specifications. Must have, keep, and maintain a valid NYS CDL Class B Driver’s License with Passenger and Air Brakes and be able to be 19A certified as required by New York State DMV; have a motor vehicle record free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations (*** Out-of-State Applicants, see "Special Notes"). Appointment is contingent upon proof of identity, employment eligibility, and successful completion of pre-employment drug testing mandated by the Federal Highway Administration Omnibus Transportation Act of 1991. Employment begins only after notification of successful testing. Must comply with the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (drug and alcohol testing).
These are temporary positions: full-time (40 hours/week) and part-time (20 hours/week), with varying shifts and pass days. Expected start: August 21, 2025; end: May 27, 2026. Night and weekend work may be required. FLSA Nonexempt, eligible for overtime. Internal and external candidate searches will occur simultaneously. Preference given to candidates on the rehire roster.

This is an essential position: required to report to work even during campus closures or limited operations due to emergencies.
