Job summary

Tolleson Elementary District is seeking a full-time Bus Driver for a 10-month term in Tolleson, AZ. The successful candidate will transport students on scheduled routes, perform pre/post-trip checks, and comply with safety regulations.

CDL with AZ School Bus Driver endorsement and air brake certification are required, with a clean driving record. The position offers 40 hours per week, benefits, and potential for additional duties as needed by the Director of Support Services.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Must possess or obtain valid Class A/B CDL with AZ School Bus Driver & Passenger Endorsement including air brake.
• Clean driving record for past three years with no DUI convictions.
• Ability to maintain positive relations with students, parents and district staff.
• Must pass annual drug tests and any additional testing as required.
• Any alternatives acceptable to administration.
• Experience driving bus or heavy equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pre- and post-trip maintenance checks of vehicle.
• Transport students on regular and assigned routes.
• Observe all safety regulations.
• Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
• Report all maintenance needs to transportation supervisor as required by law.
• Document all accidents and required information.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Support Services.

Position requirements:

• 1. High school graduate, GED and/or equivalent work experience.
• 2. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with AZ School Bus Driver and Passenger Endorsement including air brake certification.
• 3. Successful driving record for the past three years with no DUI convictions.
• 4. Ability to maintain appropriate interpersonal relations with students, parents and others of the district.
• 5. Ability to pass an annual drug test and additional drug tests as appropriate.
• 6. Such alternatives to the above as the administration finds appropriate.
• 7. Experience with driving bus or heavy equipment preferred.

Essential Duties:

• Performs pre and post-trip maintenance checks of vehicle.
• Transports students on regular and assigned runs.
• Observes all mandatory safety regulations.
• Maintains and/or reports undisciplined students to proper authority.
• Reports all necessary preventative maintenance to transportation supervisor as required by law.
• Reports all accidents and completes all required documentation.
• Performs and completes other duties as assigned by the Director of Support Services.

Terms of Employment:

10 Month, Full Time Position (40 hours per week) and Benefits Eligible.
