Objective

Under the direction of the Transit Operations Supervisor or designee, operate a transit bus on designated routes safely, courteously, and efficiently.

Relationships

Reports to: Transit Operations Supervisor or designee.
Contacts include: Assistant Transit Director, Transit Maintenance Supervisor, Transit Director, city employees, and the general public.
Supervises: None.

Essential Duties

1. Drive buses on designated routes, adhering to safety standards.
2. Provide excellent customer service.
3. Handle fares, provide route and schedule information, conduct pre-trip inspections, and maintain schedules.
4. Secure mobility devices safely.
5. Follow safety regulations, report unsafe conditions and accidents.
6. Perform other duties and projects as assigned, including during non-business hours.

Minimum Position Requirements/Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• At least 3 years of driving experience.
• Valid Commercial Driver Learning Permit or full CDL with passenger endorsement within 45 days of hire.
• Excellent driving record and work history.
• Experience in transporting passengers preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required at hire.
