Job Focus: Enhance student achievement by providing mail service and safely transport students and staff.
Line of Supervision: Responsible to and evaluated by the Director of Special Education and Chief School Business Official.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- 1. Transports children to and from schools in and out of the district as assigned.
- 2. Transports children on other special occasions to and from district schools.
- 3. Transports children home from district schools in the event they become ill, suspension, or miss their regular bus, if no other means of transportation is available. Schools must provide a monitor on the bus route if leveraging this support.
- 4. Transports district mail and packages to and from schools as necessary.
- 5. Keeps accurate records of daily mileage.
- 6. Sees that the vehicle is cleaned and serviced according to schedule established by the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.
- 7. Informs Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds of any concerns with vehicle maintenance or service.
- 8. Informs Principals of any discipline or parental concerns.
- 9. Informs Director of Special Education of any scheduling concerns.
- 10. Guards the confidentiality of all district information. Breach of this trust shall be grounds for dismissal.
- 11. Perform such other duties as may be requested by the Director of Special Education and Chief School Business Official within the scope of this job description.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1. Must be 21 years of age or older
- 2. Hold a valid and properly classified driver's license issued by the Illinois Secretary of State.
- 3. Must pass a yearly drug test and physical fitness examination performed by a licensed Physician.
- 4. Must hold a valid Illinois School Bus Driver permit.
