Job summary

BGCSA is seeking an experienced bus driver to transport students to club sites and other destinations on designated routes in San Antonio, TX. The role requires safe operation of a school bus and ensuring student safety during transit.

The position is part-time (Mon-Fri, 3:30pm-6:30pm) with 100% road travel expectations, maintaining schedules and ensuring students board and alight safely. Training and routine vehicle checks are included.

Qualifications

  • At least 23 years old.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Valid Texas Class B, Class A with passenger endorsement or CDL with passenger certificate.
  • Clean driving record required.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid practices.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains order and proper discipline of student passengers.
  • Ensures safety and welfare of children and vehicles at all times.
  • Assist students with getting on and off the bus as needed.
  • Obeys traffic laws and organizational policies.
  • Transports children and staff on field trips and plans routes accordingly.
  • Performs fueling, routine maintenance, and cleaning of buses and vans.
  • Completes mileage and passenger count reports.
  • Service buses with fuel and oil; inflate tires when necessary.
  • Inspect bus before/after routes and report repairs.
  • Attend safety, first aid, and training meetings as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Details: Level: Experienced, Job Location: Eastside Branch - San Antonio, TX 78220, Position Type: Part Time, Education Level: None, Salary Range: $20.00 Hourly, Travel Percentage: Road Warrior 100%, Job Shift: Monday-Friday 3:30pm-6:30pm, Job Category: Operations, The Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students from school to club sites and other sites within designated route(s). The bus driver is responsible for the safe operation of the school bus and ensuring student passengers safety while meeting established bus schedules. Bus drivers are expected to assist with helping students board the bus, learning which students take their route, and planning around traffic during the trip.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains order and proper discipline of student passengers.
  • Ensures the safety and welfare of children and vehicles at all times.
  • Assist students with getting on and off the bus as needed.
  • Obeys all traffic laws and adheres to all applicable organizational policies.
  • Transports children and staff on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed
  • Responsible for fueling, routine maintenance, and cleanliness of buses and vans.
  • Completes periodic mileage and other reports, including passenger counts.
  • Services buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil; when necessary, fill tires
  • Maintains a clean and mechanically sound bus by routinely inspecting the bus before and after each route.
  • Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary to facilities and fleet manager.
  • Washes bus as needed.
  • Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid, and training updates as required
  • Performs other related and assigned duties as required
Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 23 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma.
  • Possess a valid Texas Class B, Class A with passenger endorsement or CDL Drivers License with passenger certificate.
  • Possess an acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid practices, procedures, and techniques
  • Knowledge of safe driving practices
  • Ability to read and write at a level necessary to successfully perform the required duties
  • Ability to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner
  • Ability to establish and maintain proper student conduct on BGCSA vehicle
  • Ability to drive a school bus safely and efficiently
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving
  • Ability to maintain valid certification as bus driver according to state regulations
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted to perform required duties.
