Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Head Start of Carroll County, is seeking a PRN Bus Driver - CDL to transport program participants daily on the Westminster, MD site. The position is on-call with routes from 7:00 am–9:00 am and 2:00 pm–4:00 pm.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, a valid Maryland driver’s license and CDL-PS, clean driving record, ability to lift up to 40 lbs, and successful completion of required screenings.

Qualificações

• High School Diploma/GED and one year of experience driving or chauffeuring.
• CDL-PS license and minimum of one year experience driving chauffeured vehicles.
• Current MD Driver’s License.
• Must be able to provide own transportation to and from the work site.
• Must meet age, physical examination and pre-employment drug screening requirements as defined by legislation, Catholic Charities’ policies and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. irregularly.

Salary: $21.60 per hour

Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Head Start of Carroll County is seeking a PRN Bus Driver - CDL - PRN ONLY to provide daily transportation for the participants of the Program and for the maintenance of the vehicle.

Work Schedule: The position is on call; hours are 7 am to 9 am then 2 pm - 4 pm (with unpaid break). This position is only to cover the morning and afternoon bus route.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains an awareness of child safety and takes appropriate safety precautions for children’s well-being.
• Demonstrates respect and consideration in all conversations and interactions. Identifies and shows respect for a child and family’s culture and home environment.
• Uses positive discipline and guidance that is consistent with Head Start standards and Catholic Charities polices when need to address challenging behaviors.
• Safely and efficiently transports participants to and from the center daily following established schedule.
• Obtains routing information from designated staff member and reports related problems following the run. Shares knowledge as indicated to improve routing.
• Explains rules and regulations governing passenger conduct in a respectful manner. Interactions with children, co-workers and caregivers should model and demonstrate positive guidance and collaboration.
• Maintains security for passengers at all times, by checking to see that required restraint devices are secured prior to operation of the assigned vehicle.
• Maintains a system that ensures each child is released to the responsible adult both at home and in the classroom.
• Reports absentees, unusual circumstances, child behavior and family problems immediately to the designated and appropriate staff person.

VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND RECORDKEEPING

• Conducts a pre-trip vehicle inspection following established guideline and reports identified problems following established procedures.
• Maintains the gas tank capacity of the vehicle at one-half full at the end of each day’s route.
• Cleans bus windows, mirrors, and interior, and cleans the exterior of the vehicle weekly.
• Reports suspected mechanical problems following established procedures.
• Maintains all other vehicle equipment as required by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Maintains the inventory of the vehicle’s emergency first-aid kit at the required level at all times.
• Ensures that the vehicle is available for inspection by the Department of Motor Vehicles as scheduled or notified.

ADMINISTRATIVE

• Completes and submits required vehicle and passenger records as scheduled and/or requested.
• Insures that all insurance, registration and passenger information is in the vehicle at all times.
• Reports all vehicle accidents immediately following the Archdiocese Vehicle Policy Guidelines.
• Reports all traffic tickets received in the line of work to the immediate supervisor.
• Maintains confidentiality of all program and participant information.
• Comply with federal, state and local guidelines and with the policies and procedures of the Maryland State Office of Child Care, Head Start and Catholic Charities
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and staff development activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma/GED and one year of experience driving or chauffeuring.
• Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede driver’s ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.
  • For vehicles under 26001 lbs. and capacity of less than 15 occupants including the driver (963500):
• Current MD Driver’s License.
• For vehicles over 26,001 lbs. and capacity of more than 15 occupants including the driver (964000):
• CDL-PS license and minimum of one year experience driving chauffeured vehicles.
• Must meet age, physical examination and pre-employment drug screening requirements as defined by legislation, Catholic Charities’ policies and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Must be able to provide own transportation to and from the work site.
• The incumbent is responsible for paying for parking and/or speeding tickets incurred in the line of job duty.
• Must have or have the ability to become certified by Red Cross in First Aid within three months of employment.
• Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions
• This position requires sufficient visual and hearing acuity and clear speech to perform the essential functions of the job as well as a complete range of motion to operate the vehicle and respond to the needs of the children.
• Must also have the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. irregularly.
