Job summary

The Kirtland Local School District is seeking qualified school bus drivers to join our transportation team. Pay ranges from $22.82 to $28.02 per hour and placement on the salary schedule reflects prior driving experience.

Positions include AM routes (minimum two hours) and PM routes (minimum two hours). Candidates must hold a valid CDL with a school bus endorsement, a school bus driver certificate signed by the Superintendent, and pass background checks and drug testing as required by district

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CDL with school bus endorsement and evidence of a good driving record.
• School bus driver certificate signed by the Superintendent.
• Pre-employment driver's training program, basic and advanced bus driver's education.
• Attainment of legal age as defined in the Ohio Revised Code.
• Physically qualified as defined in the Ohio Revised Code.
• Annual driver's records check as defined in Rule 3301-83-07.
• Clear record as determined by BCII and FBI.
• Subject to random drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Drive AM route with a minimum of two hours.
• Drive PM route with a minimum of two hours.
• Maintain safety and follow district transportation policies.

Job description

The Kirtland Board of Education has discretion, in its sole judgment, to place drivers on the salary schedule in accordance with the driver's prior school bus driving experience.

Hourly rate: $22.82 to $28.02 an hour

A.M. Route - minimum of two (2) hours
P.M. Route - minimum of two (2) hours

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a school bus endorsement and evidence of a good driving record.
• Hold a school bus driver certificate signed by the Superintendent.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment driver's training program, basic and advanced bus driver's education programs.
• Attainment of legal age as defined in the current Ohio Revised Code.
• Physically qualified as defined in the current Ohio Revised Code.
• An annual driver's records check as defined in the current Ohio Revised Code (Rule: 3301-83-07 ).
• Evidence of a clear record as determined by the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
• Subject to random drug testing.

Physical and Mental Abilities Required:

• Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment or supplies weighing up to fifty pounds.
• Ability to travel freely between throughout the district's buildings.
• Ability to occasionally work with young children in activities that may require stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Ability to climb and work from a step stool, ladder, lift platform, or other equipment that requires balancing skills.
• Ability to organize and complete tasks efficiently without supervision.
• Ability to be punctual and maintain a good attendance record.
• Ability to identify and express maintenance concerns to appropriate district staff.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to maintain a tactful disposition in dealing with administrators, staff, students, parents, and the public.
