Job summary

St. Cloud School District 742 is seeking a School Bus Operator for 4-5 hours per day on school days. You will transport students safely, adhere to state and district rules, and support students with diverse needs while maintaining meticulous logs and route sheets.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate each type of school bus owned and operated by District 742.
• Follow state laws and district procedures for school transportation.
• Support students with disabilities and manage student behavior appropriately.
• Load and unload students safely and maintain orderly conduct.
• Maintain route sheets, fuel logs, and mileage records accurately.
• Attend required safety meetings and keep first aid certification current.

• Minnesota Class B Commercial Driver's License with the following endorsements:

  • Passenger
  • School Bus
• Paid training is provided for successful applicants
• No more than three (3) moving violations within three (3) years

POSITION SUMMARY:

The School Bus Operator is responsible for the safe transportation of students for Saint Cloud School District 742.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Demonstrate the ability to safely operate each type of school bus owned and operated by District 742
• Safely operate school buses in accordance with state laws and District procedures
• Understand and appropriately respond to student behavior, including supporting students with disabilities
• Encourage orderly conduct and address misconduct appropriately
• Safely load and unload students
• Understand and follow laws, rules of the road, and District transportation safety policies
• Attend meetings with transportation staff, school administrators, and the public as needed
• Complete student incident reports when applicable
• Maintain fuel logs, mileage sheets, pre-trip inspection forms, and other required documentation
• Review route sheets for accuracy and provide recommendations to transportation leadership
• Sweep and clean buses daily as needed
• Attend required safety and informational meetings
• Maintain current first aid certification provided by the District
• Demonstrate professionalism consistent with District expectations
• Other duties as assigned
