Job Summary

Under supervision, to operate a school bus over designated routes to transport school children, and to perform related work as required. Specific duties include:

• Operate a school bus daily over designated routes in accordance with time schedules
• Pick up and discharge school children safely according to transportation rules
• Escort children across the street, stopping traffic when necessary
• Transport students and teachers on field trips to various locations, choosing the best route and making departure and arrival times as scheduled
• Service bus with gas and oil and check tires and battery
• Wash bus exterior and clean interior and assist in maintaining bus in safe operating condition
• Maintain good order among students on the bus
• Follow district policies regarding the disciplining of children and contact with parents and other citizens
• Keep record of mileage, fuel and oil, and prepares reports of driving hazards and incidents
• Other duties as assigned.
