Job summary

TM Bus Inc. in New York, NY is seeking a school bus driver to safely operate routes and ensure student safety. You will perform pre-trip inspections, maintain discipline aboard, and communicate with dispatch and school staff.

A valid CDL with P and S endorsements and background checks are required. Weekends off, flexible schedule, and training opportunities are provided. The role emphasizes on-time pickups/drop-offs, adherence to regulations, and maintaining vehicle readiness.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a school bus along assigned routes, following all traffic laws and district schedules.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting mechanical issues promptly.
• Pick up and drop off students at designated stops on time.
• Maintain discipline and ensure student safety and behavior standards while on board.
• Use required safety equipment (mirrors, seat belts, emergency exits, wheelchair lifts if applicable).
• Follow all state/district regulations for school bus operation and student transportation.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, school staff, and parents regarding routes, delays, or incidents.
• Complete required paperwork (attendance logs, incident reports, mileage logs).
• Assist students with boarding/exiting, including those with special needs.
• Respond calmly and appropriately to emergencies (medical, mechanical, weather-related).
• Keep the bus clean and report any needed maintenance.
• Maintain a valid CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, and pass required background checks/drug screenings.
