Under close supervision, transport pupils, faculty and other school‑approved bus riders between designated pick‑up/drop‑off points, school and activity trips. Maintain order during all routes and trips, and adhere to traffic and district safety rules.

Qualifications / Job Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalency
- Possesses a valid Oklahoma Driver's License
- Skills in driving a school bus, as proven by passing a special performance test
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and school system policies and procedures
- Ability to gain respect and cooperation of students, parents, administrative officials, and others; maintain discipline; pass a required bus driver’s course; communicate and understand oral and written instructions
- Must be able to comply with the physical limits and essential duties for this position
Duties and Responsibilities
- Obey all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
- Follow district transportation discipline procedures.
- Document and report student discipline infractions on a Bus Conduct Form within the required timeframe.
- Handle minor discipline problems and record seat assignments per director’s policies.
- Perform a daily pre‑trip inspection and submit the inspection form to the Director of Transportation.
- Accurately record and document all routes and authorized stops; execute routes as scheduled.
- Ensure only authorized riders are picked up and discharged at designated stops.
- Notify transportation personnel of mechanical failures or lateness, and perform a minimum 15‑second stop at each authorized stop.
- Report all route delays and communicate over radios respectfully and professionally.
- Report all employment‑related accidents to transportation personnel as soon as possible and complete required reports.
- Enforce all district policies and the Transportation Handbook.
- Check bus for mechanical defects before each operation and maintain cleanliness.
- Maintain a valid Oklahoma DCL license and required state licensing.
- Attend scheduled meetings and in‑service training sessions.
- Promote a positive image through proper dress, conduct, and school bus operations; interact professionally with parents, patrons, and school personnel.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for transported students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
