Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Hold a valid KS CDL license (Class B, 29,000 lbs. weight vehicle) with Passenger Endorsement and School Bus Endorsement.
• Demonstrate the ability to pick up 50 lbs. (Approximate maximum weight of pre-school child.)
• Ability to work well with school staff and parents.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Defensive Driving certified.
• Successful completion of the pre-employment background check, physical, and driver’s license check
• Subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
• Successful completion of district training program.

REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor and Superintendent of Schools, USD #337

JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular programs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Obeys all traffic laws.
• Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
• Reports undisciplined students to the proper building authority and parents.
• Keeps assigned bus washed and clean.
• Keeps to assigned schedule.
• Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
• Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Discharges students only at authorized stops.
• Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
• Transports only authorized students.
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
• Enforces school regulations on the bus.
• Maintains contact with parents of route students.
• Attends all required meetings.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Ten, eleven, or twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated yearly by the Transportation Supervisor with input from the building administration and Superintendent.
