Ensure safe and orderly transportation of students on assigned route. Operate school bus that transports students and other authorized personnel to and from schools or other designated location.
Responsibilities
- Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules.
- Check bus for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify supervisor of needed repairs.
- Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, body fluid kit, fire extinguisher, and reflectors.
- Keep assigned bus clean.
- Supervise students while they board and leave the bus and cross the street.
- Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations.
- Maintain discipline; report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator.
- Maintain seating charts for students.
- Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
- Drive bus to and from extracurricular activities (field trips).
- Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Complete required reports.
- Complete monthly student count and mileage report.
- Operate two‑way radio equipment to communicate with transportation office.
- Maintain confidentiality.

- Climbs in and out of the bus 6-16 times per day.
- Operates within the district in all temperature conditions.

Qualifications
Education / Certification
- Satisfactory driving record
- Wiling to complete reuirements for the follwoing if not previously satisfied
- Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B)
- Pass alcohol and drug test
- Satisfactory restults of fingerprinting and criminal history check.
- Satisfactory completion of a physical, bus driver safety course, and CPR/first aide training.
Special Knowledge / Skills
- Must be 121 years of age
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of student discipline procedure
- Ability to manage student behavior
- Ability to operate bus
