Job summary

Lutheran Life Communities is seeking a Driver for our adult day program at Wittenberg Village in Crown Point. This role involves picking up older adults at home and bringing them to our vibrant community, where they can engage in activities and socialize.

You'll play a crucial part in ensuring members have a comfortable and safe journey. The position offers a consistent schedule, Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm, and an hourly pay of $17.00.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to communicate in English with members and families.

Responsibilities

• Pick up program members at home and drive them to the program.
• Assist members into and out of the vehicle.
• Plan routes and adjust based on schedule changes.
• Help adult day team with activities and meals.

Job description

Drive Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, for $17.00 an hour. No nights, no weekends. You drive our vehicle, so your own car and insurance stay out of it.

Our adult day program at Wittenberg Village gives older adults in Crown Point a place to spend the day doing activities, sharing a meal, and seeing friends, while their families get a break. You are the first friendly face members see each morning and the person who gets them home safe each afternoon. Our 47-acre campus sits about two miles from Crown Point's historic Downtown Square.

What you'll do

• Pick up program members at home in the morning and drive them home in the afternoon
• Help members into and out of the vehicle and walk them to the door
• Plan efficient routes and adjust when a member's schedule changes
• Pass along messages between families and the adult day team
• Help the adult day team with activities and lunch between routes
• Do daily vehicle safety checks and report any problems
• Keep mileage logs and trip paperwork

What you'll need

Required:

• Valid driver's license
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and help members in and out of the vehicle
• Able to read directions and paperwork, and talk with members, families, and staff in English

Preferred:

• Experience working with older adults, including people with memory loss
• Experience driving a van or small bus
