Job summary

Newport Mesa Unified School District is seeking bus drivers to transport students safely on assigned routes. Positions require a minimum of 25 hours per week, on a split shift, Monday–Friday, for 10 months per year. Open recruitment also covers substitute/temporary assignments.

Under the direction of the Transportation Director, duties include operating and maintaining school buses, conducting safety inspections, and completing required records and reports related to operations.

Qualifications

• EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
• Six (6) months of experience as a school bus driver is preferred.

There are currently several openings for a regular bus driver. These positions work a minimum of 25 hours per week, on a split shift, Monday-Friday, 10 months per year.

This recruitment will also be used to fill substitute assignments (temporary/as-needed basis).

NOTE: If you are a current Substitute and wish to be placed on the eligibility list for a permanent position, you will need to submit your application and participate in the examination process.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above. Six (6) months of experience as a school bus driver is preferred.

Licenses And Other Requirements

• Valid Class A or B California Motor Vehicle Operator's License with passenger transportation endorsement, "S", and air brake endorsement
• Must have a current DMV printout to be submitted with the job application must be less than 30 days old
• California Special Driver Certificate valid for school buses
• Current California Highway Patrol approved First Aid Certificate (if required on Special Driver Certificate)
