Job summary

Bradley County Schools is seeking a part-time Bus Attendant (Special Needs) to support students on Special Education Buses with medical, physical and behavioral needs. Training covers confidentiality, loading/unloading procedures, wheelchair safety, and emergency transport.

Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, you will help ensure safe transportation to and from school, field trips, and other district locations. Strong willingness to assist children is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe transportation of students, staff and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods and field trips.
• Attend training on confidentiality and bus loading/unloading procedures including wheelchair safety and emergency transport.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Overview

Bradley County Schools is employinga bus attendant to provide student support on Special Education Buses that transport students with special medical, physical and behavioral needs. The bus attendant must attend training on information regarding students with special needs, students confidentiality, and bus loading and unloading procedures including the secure transport of wheelchairs, emergency procedures and bus inspection for the end of each route. Additionally the bus attendant will be trained in any special requirements of conditions included in the student's IEP regarding the safe transport of required medications and medications that that may be needed to be administered in emergency situations.

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.
