Job summary

Bradley County Schools is seeking a part-time Bus Attendant (Special Needs) Substitute to support students on Special Education buses. The role includes training on student confidentiality, bus loading/unloading procedures, wheelchair securement, emergency procedures, and safe transport on routes.

Under supervision of the Director of Facilities, you will help ensure student safety during transport and assist with any IEP-related transport requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to assist and supervise students with special needs.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe transportation of students, staff and others to and from school.
  • Attend training on confidentiality and special needs procedures.
  • Assist with loading/unloading procedures including wheelchair securement and emergency procedures.

Additionally the bus attendant will be trained in any special requirements of conditions included in the student's IEP regarding the safe transport of required medications and medications that that may be needed to be administered in emergency situations.

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities, to ensure the safe transportation of students, staff, and others to and from school, residential neighborhoods, and field trips.

Travel Requirements

Qualifications Profile

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bilingual, both oral and written, ability (English/Spanish) is preferred.
