• Reports To: Transportation Director
• Starting Wage: $17.00 hourly

Summary

The Bus Attendant assists students during transport to and from school and special activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of students, especially those with special needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
• Ability to pass the Physical Assessment Standards for Utah School Bus Attendants
• Ability to work in a diverse environment and handle stressful situations
• Fingerprinting and criminal background check required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with children with special needs

Responsibilities

• Assist students with special needs during loading, unloading, and transit, ensuring safety with seat belts and tie-downs
• Support bus driver with student instruction and safety enforcement
• Learn bus routes to assist substitutes
• Monitor and respond to student behavior and emergencies
• Complete documentation and reports
• Support a positive and safe environment, exercising good judgment and confidentiality

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This role involves lifting up to 30 pounds, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is primarily seated with periods of walking and standing. The environment is generally clean and safe.
