Job Description

Job Title: Bus Aide

Pay: 13.00/hr

Job Summary:

Provide the safest and most efficient transportation for students so as to have a positive impact on the educational programs of the county.

Essential Duties:

  • Abides by all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations pertaining to pupil transportation.
  • Assist in loading and unloading students, including those using wheelchairs, safety vests, car seats, or other adaptive equipment.
  • Secure students in appropriate restraints, seat belts, harnesses, and/or wheelchairs in accordance with training and individual student needs.
  • Operates special equipment necessary for physically impaired students to ride the school bus.
  • Monitor and assist students during transport to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
  • Participates in all meetings and training activities required by the Transportation Department to meet the needs of the students assigned to their bus.
  • Strives to maintain a calm and relaxed atmosphere at all times on the school bus to ensure the safety of the students onboard.
  • Communicates professionally with parents, school staff, and transportation personnel regarding student needs and concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and records.
  • Follow and implement individualized transportation plans, IEP requirements, and emergency procedures as directed.
  • Assist the driver in conducting emergency evacuation drills and follow emergency procedures in the event of an accident or incident.
  • Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as the Supervisor of Transportation may assign.
