Royal Ambulance is seeking Paramedics for Burning Man in Black Rock City, NV. Join a forward‑thinking team delivering high‑quality, community‑oriented care in a one‑of‑a‑kind environment August 25–September 18, 2026. Earn $28/hour with shared housing and event credentials awarded.

Requirements include Nevada certification, CPR (BLS/ACLS/PALS), and completion of ICS courses. Prior Burning Man experience and ability to work four 12‑hour shifts are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must work a minimum of four (4) 12-hour shifts during the operational period.
  • State of Nevada Certification.
  • Possess a valid American Heart Association CPR card – BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • TB Test and Flu Shot within the last 12 months, with documentation.
  • Immunization Records within the last 10 years, with documentation.
  • Completion of ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, and IS 800 by July 1 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic life support, including patient assessment, airway management, AED use, and medication assistance.
  • Administers medications within EMT scope as authorized by protocol.
  • Responds on foot or by other means to appropriate location.
  • Determines nature and priority of illness/injury and triages emergency care.
  • Prioritizes decisions and acts quickly for patient best interest.
  • Maintains composure in stressful situations.
  • Delivers care in stationary and mobile settings within EMT-B scope.
  • Assesses patient en route and provides additional care as directed by medical control.
  • Documents observations and care at scene and in transit.
  • Assists in lifting and carrying patients.
  • Restocks supplies and cleans equipment following disinfection procedures.
  • Keeps equipment clean and ready for next patient.

Burning Man Details

Location: Black Rock Desert, NV

Operational Period: August 25th through September 7th 2026

Burning Man staffing needs are highest during September 4-5 and September 6-7, 2026. Candidates who are available for one of these priority date blocks will have the opportunity to indicate their preference, with assignments made on a first‑come, first‑served basis based on staffing need.

Responsibilities
  • Provides basic life support, including patient assessment, airway management, use of the automatic defibrillator, and assisting patients with taking their medications.
  • Administers medications within the EMT scope of practice as authorized by protocol.
  • Coordinates with dispatch to respond on foot or other non-vehicular means to the appropriate location using the most expeditious route.
  • Determines the nature and extent of illness or injury and establishes priority for required emergency care.
  • Prioritizes decisions and acts quickly in the best interest of the patient.
  • Remains calm while working in difficult and stressful situations, and stays focused while carrying out the functions of the position.
  • Provides patient care in a variety of stationary (non-ambulance) and mobile (ambulance) settings within the EMT-B scope of practice.
  • Constantly assesses the patient en route to the emergency facility, and administers additional care as indicated or directed by medical control.
  • Reports verbally and in writing, their observation and emergency medical care of the patient at the emergency scene and in transit, to the receiving medical facility staff for purposes of records and diagnostics.
  • Assists in lifting and carrying patients.
  • Restocks and replaces used linens, blankets, and other supplies as needed.
  • Cleans all equipment following appropriate disinfecting procedures.
  • Makes careful checks of all equipment so that medical gear is ready for the next patient.
  • Ensures that all equipment is clean, washed, and kept in professional condition.
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must work a minimum of four (4) 12‑hour shifts during the operational period.
  • Valid Driver's License and/or Ambulance Attendant License.
  • Driving Record must be acceptable (waived for non‑driving positions).
  • State of Nevada Certification.
  • Possess a valid American Heart Association (AHA) CPR card – BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
  • TB Test and Flu Shot (within the last 12 months, with documentation).
  • Immunization Records: Flu, Tdap, Varicella, HepB, and MMR within the last 10 years, with documentation.
  • Completion of ICS‑100, ICS‑200, ICS‑700, and IS 800 by July 1 2025.
Experience
  • Experience working in a busy emergency department.
  • Experience as a paramedic, or pre‑hospital care provider.
  • Prior experience at Burning Man.
  • Experience working in a close‑quarters or communal living environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit, climb, balance, step, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 150 pounds, and occasionally up to 200 pounds.
Risk to Exposure
  • Risk to exposure from blood‑borne pathogens – 3 High Risk.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Paramedic temporary positions for Burning Man will be paid $28.00 per hour under Nevada state regulations.
  • Shared housing, either in a shift pod or bunkhouse, may be available on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
  • Royal will provide some meals, and preference will be given to participants who are attending or have previously attended Burning Man and can be self‑sufficient.
  • When not on duty, employees are free to enjoy everything Black Rock City has to offer.
  • These temporary positions will conclude on or after September 18, 2026. Employees will receive a credential allowing them to enter the event.
  • Employees regularly work with confidential patient and personnel information.
  • The employee must maintain composure and tact in stressful situations.
  • They must communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and through radio and telephone communications.
  • Additionally, they must demonstrate compassion and a sincere dedication to patient needs, concerns, and information confidentiality.
