Job summary

Verizon is seeking an on-site Building Maintenance Technician with strong HVAC, plumbing, and electrical knowledge. You will maintain and repair building systems to keep operations running smoothly and safely.

The role requires hands-on problem solving, compliance with safety standards, and the ability to work a standard 40-hour schedule. Two-year technical degree or equivalent certification plus at least two years of related experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• Two year Associate degree or equivalent certification in ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical work or related field.
• Minimum two years' experience in ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing and heating plant operations.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification per EPA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Starting, operating, repairing and maintaining HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, locksmith, electrical and other building systems equipment.
• Performing major repairs and replacements of mechanical plant equipment.
• Install, repair and calibrate pneumatic or electric controls for temperature and humidity control.
• Perform inspections and repairs on equipment/systems per company policies and regulations.
• Review work orders, diagrams, and building plans to determine assignment.
• Follow Verizon safety practices and procedures.
• Climb ladders and handle items up to 100 lbs.
• Post certificates and permits as required by regulations.
• May perform additional duties as needed by the company.

What you'll be doing...

You're an expert with HVAC, plumbing, electrical and even building mechanicals... and if there's a maintenance problem with our building, you've got it covered! Your know-how and commitment to excellence will ensure that Verizon's building systems always operate at maximum efficiency.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Starting, operating, repairing and maintaining various types of heating and air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, locksmith, electrical and other building related systems equipment.


• Performing major repairs and replacements of mechanical plant equipment.


• Install, repair and calibrate various makes of pneumatic and/or electric controls required for the operation of equipment and the control of temperature and humidity.


• Performing inspections and making repairs on equipment/systems as required by company practices and/or regulations/ordinances.


• Reviewing and interpreting work order requests, operating instructions, diagrams, building plans and mechanical equipment drawings.


• Follow established Verizon safety practices and procedures.


• Climbing ladders, working aloft, and moving/lifting items generally not exceeding 100 lbs.


• Performs inspections and makes repairs on equipment or systems as required by Verizon practices and/or Federal, State and local regulations and ordinances. Post current certificates and permits as required.


• May need to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.


• Work tour hours are 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday (hours may vary). Overtime is as needed by the Company.

What we're looking for...

You know HVAC and other building systems like the back of your hand, and are anxious to put your knowledge and skills to work for the Verizon Team. You like to be busy and well-organized to stay on top of things. You take pride in a job well done because you know better matters!

You'll need to have:

• Two (2) year Associate degree or equivalent certification from a technical or vocational school in ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical work and heating plant operations and maintenance.


• Minimum of two (2) years' experience in ventilating and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical work and heating plant operations and maintenance is desired.


• Universal Technician Certification as designated by EPA regulations-40 CFR Part 82 Subpart H.


• Valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.


• Tests - Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy.


• Must meet safety-related requirements including but not limited to those standards of safety imposed by OSHA, state agencies, manufacturers and/or the company.


• Medical evaluation is required. Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, lifting, carrying and maneuvering heavy equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.


• Must be available to work scheduled tours designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or the needs of the business. Associates may be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, non-scheduled and non-consecutive days, as the needs of the business require. Tours are subject to change at any time based on the needs of the business and that are in accord with labor contract requirements.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Recent experience performing maintenance and repairs on commercial HVAC equipment.
