The City of Ocala is seeking a seasoned Building Official to oversee the Building and Safety Division. You will coordinate inspections for commercial, residential and industrial projects, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with Florida building codes and city ordinances.
You will lead policy development, manage budgets, and work with architects, engineers and owners to resolve complex construction issues, while advancing streamlined permit tracking systems.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Must be knowledgeable of the Florida Building codes, NFPA codes, Fire Prevention code and City of Ocala codes and ordinances relating to building and development. Must have knowledge of minimum housing standards and the ability to provide guidance and instruction of the same. Must have the ability to coordinate and plan inspection activities in the inspection division. Must have the ability to enforce inspection conformity with firmness, tact and impartiality. Must be able to communicate orally and in written form. Must be able to meet multiple deadlines. Must have the ability to develop and maintain working relationships in the division. Must have strong organizational skills. Must have the ability to prepare detailed reports and maintain detailed records.
