Job summary

Cobb County Government is seeking an intermediate to high-level skilled trades professional to perform maintenance, renovation and repair of county buildings and facilities in Marietta, GA. The role includes reading blueprints, ensuring code compliance, and supervising inmates and contractors.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with vocational training and at least three years of building construction experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in one or more building trades.
• Three years of experience in building construction, maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled and highly skilled trades work in maintenance, repair and renovation of county buildings and facilities.
• Reads blueprints or design drawings to determine work to be performed.
• Ensures compliance with laws, codes, regulations and standards; conducts maintenance inspections.
• Performs carpentry, flooring, ceiling tile and fixture installations; paints interior/exterior surfaces; concrete work and sheetrock installation.
• Supervises and instructs inmates, maintenance staff and contractors; ensures safety and proper operation of tools and equipment.
• Troubleshoots electrical and plumbing systems; installs/repairs wiring, receptacles, switches, pipes and fixtures.
• Maintains heating and air-conditioning systems and associated ductwork; assists with troubleshooting.
