The State of Michigan is seeking a Building Trades Crew Leader to oversee tradespeople and manage various projects on state properties. This role requires strong leadership, customer service skills, and experience in skilled trades. The position involves using power tools and ensuring quality work while fostering a positive work environment.
The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.
The employee leads work and oversees the work of lower-level tradespeople. The employee will assist the supervisor in work assignment, quality oversight, job estimation, and production monitoring. They will work with trades to perform a full range of assignments for projects on state properties, including maintenance, construction, and remodeling. The employee will use a wide range of power tools and equipment appropriate to the work. Providing customer service with courtesy, respect, and attention to detail is essential. The employee will work cooperatively with staff, ensuring all staff are customer service oriented, and will communicate positively about projects and daily interactions.

Education: Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience: Five years of experience in a skilled trade, including one year of experience equivalent to the E9-level in state service.
